Ha ha so actually I’m not a knitting gorrilla BUT I was recently involved in some knitting graffiti or “guerilla knitting”……..did ya see the pun? (sorry)
I recently bought the book “yarn bombing” for a friend and had a been of a sneak preview before I gave it to her. I was really taken by it and had been thinking ever since then that I’d really like to have a go myself.
Trouble is, I couldn’t work out where I wanted to install something, and then plucking up the courage to go and sew some of my knitting onto something (it’s actually crochet as I can’t really knit to save my life) was causing me some troubles.
I’ve been going to a night called Stitches and Hos at the Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath for a little while now and that is where it all began. Sara Fowles(@needlesandhooks ««tweetererers) had said that she was interested in trying to attach a few pieces to the bull at the bull ring, discs on the selfridges building etc etc and asked if anyone was interested……..so here was my chance!
We spent a few weeks knitting away, a few e-mails from Sara including some measurements she’d made (I’m sure we should have had a camera when she was measuring the bull) and got up at 5am on a Saturday morning to install them. It was a little tricksy as we met the “fun police” aka Bull Ring Security. No bother though, we found some better targets :) Pictures are below for your enjoyment! (After all, that’s what it’s all about, the smile on your face).
